The article examines the impact of telecommunication technologies on the functioning of the educational environment in Russia during the pandemic. The specificity of modern Internet education is analyzed and systematized. The influence of the Internet on education, a special sphere of social life, is considered. Within the framework of online distance learning, it is possible to implement author’s individual educational programs that can satisfy the various educational needs of students and meet the criteria related to the development of a student’s career in a permanently transforming labor market. Only the development of digital technologies is not the only condition for the transformation of the educational space to go in full swing. As the experience of other countries illustrates, without systemic changes requiring the involvement of all school employees, students, parents, and government representatives, the transition from some success in the use of digital technologies to improving the work of mass education is impossible.The experience of the pandemic with the urgent widespread introduction of online technologies has shown that so far schools and universities have not moved to a qualitatively new level of activity, because. digital transformation of education is an update of planned educational results, and the content of education, and methods, organizational forms, evaluation of the educational work of each student.
