The article considers such a component of personal image as personal history in the context of the concept of "narrative". The narrative method is considered both as a theory of narration and as a method of research in the humanities. The appeal in our article to the narrative approach is connected with the problems of identity, with ideas about the development of personality and individuality, understanding the content of human experience and ways of its construction, including in the process of forming a person's image, his personal image with storytelling technologies. The choice of research methods for the stated problems is based on interdisciplinary and systematic approaches, on the principle of complementarity of various spheres of socio-humanitarian knowledge. The empirical material of the study was obtained as a result of the use of storytelling technology in the framework of project activities of students of the Ural Federal University. Narrative practices used in education form certain competencies in the field of media communications, developing cognitive processes, imaginative and verbal creativity. The professional activity of creative orientation - image-making - is understood as the activity of image formation through appropriate technologies. The process of forming a personal image begins with determining the initial data of the personality. The initial data in image-making are personality characteristics, in particular, history as a ready-made component of the image. These are facts of biography, social, material, family status of a person, hobbies, hobbies, information about his lifestyle. In the process of working on the image, elements of personal history can be accentuated, even a "legendary" biography can be created through storytelling technology. Stories in the structure of a personal image, created including within the framework of storytelling technology, are designed to appeal to the values and emotions of the target audience of the image. In the process of creating stories when constructing a personal image, the subject becomes aware of the image of values, both his own and the values broadcast to a certain target audience.
