The purpose of the study: to identify the psychological determinants of self-damaging behavior of young people and the practice of effective work with young people with self-damaging behaviors in order to prevent relapses. In the course of the study, the authors of the article used empirical research methods, such as: questionnaires of Polskaya, Bassa-Drka, E. Khaim, content analysis. This problem is quite relevant for modern society and, along with this, little studied. In this regard, in this article, the authors make an attempt to summarize the existing experience in modern science in the prevention of self-damaging behavior of young people, including through inclusion in sports activities. This article highlights scientists who are actively developing issues of working with adolescents and young people with self-injurious behavior, describes the main models of activities with young people, and systematizes information on the recommended forms and methods of working with young people with self-injurious behavior. As part of the conclusions, the main guidelines for the organization of preventive activities are indicated.
