The article reviews ways of transmitting the components of meaning and value when translating English-language political neologisms from media resources into Russian. By comparing English neoformations and the existing translations thereof into Russian, such strategies of translation as lean translation, transliteration, descriptive translation and transcription have been revealed. Benefits of componential analysis and indicating the frequency of connotation usage to determine the most efficient way of transmitting the meaning components have been demonstrated. The aim of the present article is to demonstrate the transmission patterns for categories of value when translating. In accordance with the set aim, the following research tasks were identified: determining the impact of a particular translation technique on the transmission of a meaning; establishing the patterns of idea transmission in the neologism generation and defining mechanisms for creating an image in the original language and in the translation; conducting a comparative analysis. Such methods as comparative analysis; pragmatic method; distributive analysis; component analysis and content analysis were used. Practical significance of the research is expressed in the possibility of facilitating the work of translators and making it more efficient. Relevance of the study is evidenced by the key role of political discourse and a high demand for translation thereof.
