Introduction. The article presents the results of a pilot study conducted in Russia, Brazil and Hungary. These countries are similar in Human Development Index and Network Readiness Index). The reported study aimed to verify the hypothesis about an ecopsychological interpretation of risk. Such risk acts as a criterion for psychological readiness of an individual to interact with digital environment. The methodological basis for the study was an ecopsychological typology of subject to environment interactions (Panov 2014; 2017). Materials and Methods. The empirical data were collected in 2017-2022 based on a structural approach in the theory of social representations (Abric 2001). Social perceptions of risks were compared with theoretical constructs of perceptions of digital environment in accordance with the ecopsychological approach. Digital environment can play the role of a fact, factor, condition, object, subject, or quasi-subject (in this pilot study, not all constructs were identified). The study involved 46 university teachers aged 36-70 (8 from Brazil, 12 from Hungary and 26 from Russia). Results. Comparing the “core” and “periphery” with the Abric coefficient, the relationship between perceptions of risk and the degree of immersion in digital information environment as part of professional and pedagogical activity was revealed. There is a trend for the development of a relationship between ideas about risks and a degree of readiness for professional activity in digital environment. Conclusions. The hypothesis was partially confirmed. The study results open prospects for a broad discussion of methods that can be used to study not only technological readiness for professional activity in digital environments (knowledge, skills), but, in the long term, the development of a single meta-subject “individual-digital environment” in the professional activity in digital information environments. A limitation of the study is a small number of respondents, which is explained by its pilot nature. Nevertheless, it provided insights into the prospect of using risk perceptions as an indicator in the studies of the relationship between a human and digital environment.
