The article analyzes the Russian scientific, technical and regulatory literature on the issue of determining the length of reinforcement bars beyond the theoretical cutoff point in the beams and slabs. The requirements of European and American design standards related to the determination of the cutoff point of longitudinal tension reinforcement in beams are analyzed. Recommendations for engineers for use in practical design of reinforced concrete beams have been compiled.
