This study analyzes the results of comprehensive testing of velocity qualities of 1st year students at the Omsk Agrarian University. We have revealed simple and complex forms of velocity qualities’ manifestation. We have also analyzed the features of these qualities in the process of physical culture and sport activities of university students. Physiological and pedagogical testing methods were used. To organize the study and involvement of students, we have applied interactive forms, namely the problem-based learning and small group work. Assessment criteria of test exercises were developed for the young people under study. New statistical data were obtained on the level of velocity qualities’ development among 1st year students on the basis of a comprehensive approach.
