Supporting the growing market demand for battery-operated electric vehicles requires significant investments in the charging infrastructure. Innovative technologies are continuously being implemented to reduce the impacts of fast charging stations on the utility grid. Vehicle-to-Vehicle technology was proposed to transfer the energy from a donor vehicle to a receiver vehicle. The technology demonstrated tremendous benefits for the grid operator. This research investigates the operation of charging stations while enabling this power trading technology. Two popular charging station topologies are modeled in MATLAB and studied based on the performance of the combined power converters. Results evaluation demonstrated the superiority of one configuration, especially in terms of reduced losses and enhanced performance. Regardless, the V2V operation was successfully conducted in both explored scenarios, and the power exchange process was maintained.
