The effect of the distribution of competing exchange interactions on the magnetic state of a disordered magnet has been studied by Mössbauer spectroscopy, which can provide local information. A technique for estimating the local characteristics of separate atoms and alloys in general by Mössbauer spectra is considered. Results of studies of the FePd2 Au alloy, which features competing exchange interactions, by Mössbauer spectroscopy over a wide range of temperatures are reported. Analysis of the Mössbauer spectra by the technique developed shows the predominant influence of the local atomic distribution on the magnetic states that occur in the alloy.
