By the e.m.f. method in the range of temperatures from 608 to 112 K changes in partial thermodynamic functions of scandium in zinc melts, containing 4.9-15.1 at.% scandium, were determined. Standard thermodynamic characteristics of SoZn12 intermetallic compound, which is formed by peritectic reaction at 874 K, were calculated. Approximate equations of temperature dependence of solubility (in the range of 994-1096 K) and activity (at 874-994 K) of scandium in liquid zinc are presented. Using the equations, excess partial thermodynamic characteristics of alpha-scandium in zinc melts in the range of 994-1096 K were evaluated. The results obtained suggest a strong interparticle interaction of zinc-scandium melt components.
