The traditional X-ray tomography (cone beam computed tomography or spiral computed tomography) is widely used in the dentistry nowadays because it gives essential information for dentists to diagnose illnesses and to plan treatment. It becomes obvious today that the resolution of images provided with traditional computed tomography (approximately 300 µm pixel size) is not enough for modern dentistry. That’s why we have focused our investigation on the microcomputed tomography (micro-CT). We offer a method of 3D modeling tooth impression based on the micro-CT data. Suggested method can be used for rapid design of surgical guides, temporary crowns, inlays and onlays.
