N2 - The paper presents a new Master’s program Artificial Intelligence Engineering at Ural Federal University created in cooperation with IT companies and partner universities. The aim of the program is to teach engineers who are able to develop complex large-scale software solutions that use artificial intelligence and put the solutions into production. The students study in detail not only the theoretical foundations and practical applications of artificial intelligence for various areas (natural language processing, computer vision, time series analysis, information security) but also contemporary methods and software engineering tools for machine learning operations (MLOps). The students acquire soft skills through project-based learning by solving research or real-world problems provided by partner companies, universities labs and Institutes of Russian Academy of Science. In addition to Ural Federal University, the program was implemented at six partner universities.
