N2 - In this paper an influence of electrical steel features on the transformer specifications is studied. The application of non-grain oriented, grain oriented and double oriented electrical steel to be increased performance of the transformer is considered. Numerical experiments were carried out by solving the A-formulation of Maxwell's equations system with the help of finite element method. As a result, the dependences of efficiency and power factor on value of the transformer relative magnetic permeability and relative mass, as well as the distribution of magnetic flux density in the transformer core, were obtained. Ultimately, conclusions are drawn about the advisability of using double oriented electrical steel in manufacture of transformers.
