Low-frequency solutions of the dispersion equation for longitudinal waves in an electron-hole system of metals and degenerate semiconductors have been studied. The relative magnitude of the collisionless absorption was shown to decrease with increasing wave number. Conditions for the escape of the dispersion curve of short-wavelength excitations from the zone of collisionless absorption were found.
