The article discusses the influence of theoretical heat consumption for glass-making and heat losses to the environment on the energy efficiency of the melting tank of a glass-making furnace. The main way to increase the melting tank energy efficiency is by the reduction of heat losses to the environment. A new design of the bath lining has been developed, and it is suitable for melting all types of container glass. Its use in the production of green and colorless glassed provided decreases in heat loss of up to 3.91% and 4.16%, respectively, from the extremely low specific energy consumption of 3.8 MJ/kg glass.
