A method for production of Al-Sc master alloy by the high-temperature exchange processes is proposed. The main problem at the stage of master alloy synthesis by using the exchange reaction was the composition heterogeneity of the produced material arisen because of the segregation process, which in turn was caused by the slowness of the ingot cooling process. Under industrial conditions the AlSc2 melt should be overheated under a (Na-K) Cleq salt flux up to 900 °C to ensure homogeneity in chemical and phase composition.
