The photoluminescence of Zn2SiO4:Mn2+ ceramics with a particle size of 120 ± 10 nm excited by UV-pho-tons and synchrotron radiation with energies up to 20 eV was investigated. An intense emission band with maximum at 2.34 eV was observed. Its position and half-width do not depend on the excitation energy. Non-exponential shape of the emission decay curve at 2.34 eV excited by UV-photons was found. An additional photoluminescence excitation channel through energy transfer between band states and vacancy-like defects of the Zn2SiO4-matrix is likely to occur in nanosized ceramics under excitation with the energies above 5.8 eV.
