The article considers the Mexican period (1920-1931) in the life and creativity of Victor Arnautoff (1896-1979), a Californian painter of Russian origin. The author reviews his experience of collaboration with the Mexican painter Diego Rivera, characterizes creative contacts and the artistic environment, and estimates the value of the Mexican internship for professional formation of the beginning mural painter.
