The article deals with the issue of the Biblical genealogies of the Russian people debated in the historical writings from the 16th till the 18th centuries. The key Biblical characters that were recognized as the ancestors of the Russians had been revealed on the basis of the Russian, Polish, Ukrainian and Western European written sources. The article also traces the changing of the representation of Biblical genealogies during the 16th-18th centuries as well as the historians' argumentation.
