Are resulted classification and properties of peat, the analysis of the mechanism of the peat fires, existing technologies of prevention of fire and suppression of peat fires. It is offered to apply nanotechnologies to suppression of peat fires by a peat alloying nanoparticle with reception of a new kind of peat - nanopeat; areas of its effective utilization are specified.
