An effective synthetic approach to an antipyrine derivative with fragments of 1,2,4-triazine and pyridine as a result of the sequential use of nucleophilic hydrogen evolution (SNH) in the 1,2,4-triazine-4-oxides and aza-Diels-Alder reactions with the 2,5-norbornadiene as dienophile is proposed.
