The article deals with the two narratives of the Ukrainian historical writings of the 17th century. The first narrative is concerned with the attempts to invent a convincing biblical genealogy of the Slavs, and the second one presents a forged ‘Charta' of Alexander the Great, allegedly granted the Slavs with almost entire territory of Eastern Europe. The author demonstrates the ways of those narratives were borrowed by the Ukrainian writings, and investigates differences in their representation in different 17th'century texts.
