The second book of Professor N.S. Rozov “Philosophy and theory of history” is devoted to a wide thematic range of problems - from fundamental problems of social ontology, through the problems of historical dynamics up to attempts to analyze individual crises and revolutions in detail through a thorough empirical study of their event layer. The range of tasks stated by the author and such a vast problem field to be analyzed are impressive, as is the list of domestic and foreign sources used. However, it attracts much more attention with a number of implicit responses to the challenges of our time and the “malice of the day”. The reviewed work continues the research line of Professor N.S. Rozov and is a new stage in the development of his research program, equipped with the latest tools, located in the context of the most modern methodological developments put forward recently. The author sets an impressive task to apply this highly diversified tool to the fundamental problems of social revolutions - to the knowledge of causes, conditions, and consequences. But the author’s undoubted merit should be considered the attempt to reveal the meaning of revolutions - something that the great Russian philosophers V.I. Lenin, N.A. Berdyaev, P.A. Sorokin still tried to do. Professor N.S. Rozov’s book undoubtedly arouses the most important thing - methodological interest.
