The authors analyze the role the Czechoslovak Legion’s uprising played in the internationalization of the Civil war in Russia during the spring and summer of 1918. The new archival sources that expose the role of foreign powers in involving the prisoners of war of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire in Russian civil conflicts are introduced.
