The problem of refugee influx in Europe is particularly acute in Germany today. Modern media are a powerful tool for shaping people’s consciousness and behaviour. Discourse analysis of German print media enables us to track changes in the use of vocabulary referring to refugees in federal publications and in the perception and representation of refugees and German citizens. It also allows us to consider the subject of articles covering the events and to assess the degree of support of the media for the refugee policy of Germany.
