This scientific research is devoted to the comparison of students’ perception of planar and volumetric images during their practical work on the descriptive geometry course named «Creation of Shadows in the Perspective». The assessment of visual perception of tested persons was carried out by means of system of high-speed remote binocular tracking of eyes – eye-tracking – SMIRED 500 based on the Laboratory of psychophysiology and psychophysics UrFU on the sample of 21 students-architects. The thermal cards of perception are received taking into account the time and frequency of examining of the allocated details of images. Data of Fixations’ Durations are reduced in the general table. Various strategy of perception of planar and volumetric images are revealed. Taking into account the revealed strategy of perception, recommendations about carrying out practical classes for students of architectural and construction specializations are made.
