The article considers the development of organic production as one of the significant trends in global development. It is emphasized that organic production is one of the trends in the development of the world community in the first quarter of the XXI century. At the same time, organic agriculture in the Russian Federation has great growth potential and is actively developing at the present time. The article provides information about the main international and Russian organizations that contribute to the development of organic agriculture. The authors of the article provide statistical data, materials on the theoretical foundations and practical results of the development of the industry. Information is provided on the current state of organic production in the world and the Russian Federation. The factors contributing to the growth of organic agriculture in Russia have been identified. It is noted that an important incentive for the development of organic production is the availability of effective demand for organic products. While the main consumers of organic products in our country are residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg, the trend is projected to continue in the coming years. However, demand for organic products can be generated in other regions of Russia, primarily in megacities. The growing interest and trust of the population in local brands can contribute to this. The involvement of regional producers, especially farms, in organic production is a promising direction for the development of the industry. The authors conclude that the intensification of the growth of organic production will be facilitated by the improvement of the legislative framework, the adoption of a Development Strategy in 2023, the consolidation of professional communities, and support for the industry at the federal and regional levels.
