The article is devoted to the main problems of distinguishing features, structure and development of speech hearing, its structure, and its role in training foreign languages to non-linguistic students at elementary level. The author compares German and Russian phonetic systems from methodical point of view and introduces some basic exercises and ways to control understanding.
