The article outlines brief history of research on artificial intelligence and offers its philosophical assessment. The author focuses on the ontological assumptions that underlie the notion of “strong” artificial intelligence. Non-classical sociological theory of action that was elaborated by H. Joas is analyzed, The author argues that this theory provides valuable insights for our understanding of “strong” artificial intelligence.
