Research on the social participation of young people in the socio-cultural development of the city has become an actual research trend and required attention to the development of an interdisciplinary methodology. The purpose of the article is to develop the author's methodology for studying the social participation of youth in post-Soviet countries in the socio-cultural development of the city. The author's concept formed the basis of the project "social participation of youth in the socio-cultural development of cities in Russia and post-Soviet countries: comparative analysis of potential and management models". Special feature of the project is an integrated approach to solving the problem of interdisciplinary research, being implemented by means of comparative analysis. The meaning of the integrated approach is a combination of two basic methodological principles - interdisciplinarity and comparability, as well as the implementation of the correlation between general scientific approaches (institutional, socio-cultural, community, management), comparative analysis and disciplinary discourses of sociology, cultural studies and urbanism.
