The article, based on an analysis of a large enough sample of media texts published in the Russian media of various political affiliation, examines the problems of transformation of one of the ideologemes significant for the trends of the modern socio-political life - the ideologeme “Russian world”. In total, more than 100 publications of official government and non-government media of Russia were chosen for the study. The adequacy of analysis is also ensured by relying on theoretical research carried out by Russian scholars on this topic. As a result of investigation of newspaper materials and online publications, the main areas of transformation of the ideologeme “Russian world” and the strategy of its functioning in news and analytical publications of Russian journalists have been singled out. Among these strategies are the “strategy of national unity,” the “strategy of confronting hostile forces” and the “strategy of cross-border relations”, actively used to delineate the framework and to justify the cultural influence of Russia beyond its geographical borders.
