This article analyzes the most well-known mediacontrolevent and person-centered theories of mass communication, differently interpreting the impact of information environment on the development of personality. A special place in the article takes the idea of metapsychology, which puts the problem of information security. It is noted that the creation of a secure information environment can be carried out on public (social) level. This level would include the improvement of legal protection of information security of children, the establishment of laboratories for the study of the media environment with the aim of examination of information products, involvement of the public and responsibility of workers of mass communication. On internal (personal) level, it is necessary to form an informational immunity. As the spheres of forming this immunity within the media we can distinguish media analysis (the ability to understand and analyse media products) and media-practice (the ability to do your own media products).
