Pilot smelting of high-carbon ferrochrome from agglomerated and initial fines of chrome ore is made in submerged electric arc furnace with transformer installed capasity 1,2 MV ⋅ A. Two types of agglomerates have been chosen for smelting after previous experiments on pilot agglomeration of chrome ore fines on the basis of best characteristics of a process (agglomeration velocity, agglomerate strength and yield). It is shown that standard high-carbon ferrochrome can be produced from agglomerated produced due to proposed technology. In addition, a comparison of technical and economical performance of production of high-carbon ferrochrome from agglomerates and initial fines of chrome ore is presented in the article.
