The article is devoted to the study of the Chinese economy transition to carbon-neutral energy, the existing recruiting challenges and opportunities for their solution. The main research methods used were as follows: collection, analysis and generalization of thematic data from scientific literature and corporate sources, system, criteria and statistical analysis, as well as modeling based on forecast estimates. Greenhouse emission and planned indicators of its elimination adopted by the Chinese government for the period up to 2060 are considered. Priority industries and the main areas of action that will ensure the maximum reduction of greenhouse gas emission have been identified. The analysis of forecast indicators on the needs for engineering and management staff at different stages of the transition to carbon-neutral energy is carried out. Taking into account the educational trajectories of the executives from major energy companies in China, proposals on the necessary changes in the managers' training to implement a large-scale transformation of energy and basic sectors of the Chinese economy are formulated.
