Results of the research aimed at developing the prototype of multi-functional melting furnace equipped with lateral electromagnetic rotator based on the induction furnace for steel melting with a capacity of 400 kg are presented. The use of coreless induction furnace (CIF) as a highly efficient smelting unit combined with an electromagnetic rotator (EMR) provides control of thermal and electrodynamic impacts at all stages of melting. The description of the structure of all major subassemblies, the results of calculation of power parameters and EMR characteristics are presented. Material consumption of the prototype is estimated.
