This article is dedicated to a comparative analysis of common notations process modeling. Also in our work we highlight the problems of automated information systems design. In this article we consider the BPMN and UML notations. In addition to the theoretical analysis, based on a synthesis of information on these standards, we carried out the design of information system of the selected automation object. The object of our interest is a typical hospital, and the process, that we will optimize, is automated workflow system. We reviewed different software, that is traditionally used to work with a unified object-oriented language and notation BPM. We have chosen a set of development tools, which is presented by the systems ArgoUML and Bizagi Studio. Using these software products we designed two similar information systems and automatically generated the appropriate web applications. The relation of different diagrams in these notations is marked. The developed system prototypes and technologies are recommended to be used for educational purposes, but with the proper completion, including the program code optimization and further calibration and approbation, it can be used in real conditions.
