An analysis of the logic of two textile industrial sites and their settlements was carried out - the Sedo colony in Catalonia, Spain, and Aramil`, Sverdlovsk region, Russia. The determination of architectural and architectural planning solutions with utilitarian purposes, on the one hand, and local residential structures, on the other, is shown. It is proved that in the 20th century the Sedo colony could not develop fully due to the closed character of the settlement, while in Aramil` there is a unique case of «embedding» in 1900 a new industrial site in the structure of the classical industrial settlement of the Urals. The conclusion is made about the need for a holistic approach to the objects and territories of the textile industrial heritage in their connection with the settlement, as well as the full consideration of the architectural features of each individual complex.
