The article describes three foreign independent Jewish newspapers in Russian: “Yevreiski Mir” (USA), “Yevreiskaya Panorama” (Germany) and “Vesti” (Israel). Based on the analysis we identify some current trends in interpretation of the Holocaust and argue the importance to remember the consequences of that historical fact. Of certain interest are the conclusions made in the analyzed newspaper articles about the dangers of disappearance of that event from the memory of the new generations and the attempts to shift responsibility for that terror from the Nazi onto somebody else. The tragedy of the holocaust is not treated as something extraordinary anymore, it is rather interpreted as a historical accident that doesn’t need special attention as it is just an example of genocide. Moral and ethical norms vanish in young people who do not connect Holocaust with their nation and can easily write comments in social networks approving desecration of the memorials of the Holocaust. As a result the consequences and the mere fact of the Holocaust are forgotten not only by ordinary people, but by the political leaders of the countries supporting tolerance and respect for the other nations. Even at the very top, in the UN, they don’t feel any need to learn from the Holocaust and take any measures against the growing anti-Semitic movements in the XXI century.
