The present work is devoted to the study of research nuclear facilities decommissioning and radiation hazardous facilities operating in their composition. The main provisions of the IAEA on the decommissioning of research nuclear facilities are presented. A review of Russian experience in this area has been conducted. The main factors that complicate the decommissioning of radiation hazardous facilities are identified. The necessity of using experimental facilities in the nuclear industry is substantiated. The design features of the experimental facilities and the reasons for their decommissioning are considered. The basic aspects of decommissioning of experimental stands, handling of experimental devices at the final stage of their use are considered. The life cycle of experimental devices is considered, the most dose-consuming stages of work are highlighted. The experimental bench base of the IVV-2M research nuclear facility operated by IRM JSC description is given. A brief overview of the work experience gained by IRM JSC in the field of decommissioning of experimental stands using the example of the SIGMA -ARALIA stand is given. Ways of optimizing the dose loads for the technical personnel are considered using at the same time three-dimensional modeling to plan radiation-hazardous operations for decommissioning and training of personnel.
