The paper describes the installed induction unit to heat the die tooling used in 300 MN vertical hydraulic press for blade forging. A computer model to simulate the relevant electromagnetic and thermal processes is described. The results of a full-scale experiment on heating of die tooling and the results of verification of the computer model with this experiment are presented. The cost of electrical power needed for heating the die tooling according to the conventional and proposed technologies is compared.
