The article presents the results of the research devoted to the study of abilities and interests of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The survey involved 16 parents raising children with ASD, and 10 professionals working with this category of children. The processing of data obtained with the help of a questionnaire for parents and a questionnaire for specialists made it possible to establish areas in which, according to observations of parents and specialists, children most often display abilities and spheres of their interests. Parents noted the children’s ability to music, drawing and modeling, mathematics and design, sports, and specialists, in addition to those mentioned (with the exception of sports), also pointed to good mechanical memory, ability to work on computers, and philology. According to the observations of the parents, the interests of children with ASD are primarily related to music, computer games, drawing and modeling. The prospect of work in this direction can be the development of a system of assistance to children with ASD in the afterhours activities and institutions of additional education
