The efficiency evaluation of a non-conventional regime of the electrocontact welding has been carried out under production conditions. The aim was to increase the electrical copper plasticity in the zone of the thermal influence of a welded seam by decreasing the grain sizes and modifying the copper structure. Conditions of the thermodeformation treatment of continuous cast billets were perfected. Desired properties of contact wires for the overhead network were achieved.
