The reaction of potassium dibromodicyanoaurate with methoxymethyltriphenylphosp honium and tetraphenylstibonium chlorides in water followed by recrystallization from acetonitrile gave the ionic complexes [Ph3PCH2OMe][Au(CN)2Br2] (1) and [Ph4Sb][Au(CN)2Br2] (2), which were characterized by IR and NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The crystals of complexes 1 and 2 consist of the tetrahedral methoxymethyltriphenylphosphonium and tetraphenylstibonium cations, respectively, and crystallographically independent square-planar dibromodicyanoaurate anions. In complex 1, the anions form coordination polymer chains via Au∙∙∙Br interanionic contacts (3.46 Å).
