The Sokolovsko-Sarbaisky Mining and Processing Plant (SSGOK) produces iron ore pellets from concentrates obtained from the ores of the Sokolovsky and Sarbaisky deposits. Roasting of pellets is carried out on conveyor machines. The ores of the deposits differ both in mineralogical and chemical composition. As a result, it became necessary to study and compare the technological and metallurgical properties of pellets obtained from the varieties of ores of the Sokolovsky and Sarbaisky deposits. In this case, the firing parameters of the pellets will also be different. It was also necessary to find out the pellets from the ores of which deposit have higher metallurgical properties, on the basis of which they can be recommended for wider production. A study was made of the properties of varieties of concentrates, differing in the degree of grinding and having different contents of silicon oxide, waste rock and sulfur. at the same time, the fractional composition, true density and specific surface area of the concentrates were determined and various physicochemical methods were used. Research has been carried out on the roasting of pellets at the sintering bowl and at the Tamman furnace. After firing, the pellets were tested for strength, the yield of fines, the degree of reduction of the pellets, and their strength during recovery were determined depending on the content of silicon oxide and sulfur in them. The main difference between the concentrates from the ores of the Sokolovsky and Sarbaisky deposits, associated with different intensity of reduction, has been established. The results obtained are of particular interest to technologists involved in the optimization of regime parameters during roasting of pellets from ores of various varieties on conveyor machines. They can also be used in studying the processes of reduction of iron oxides in pellets obtained from the ores of the Sokolovsky and Sarbaisky deposits in the zone of indirect reduction in a blast furnace.
