Considered are well-known methods of determination of carcinogenic danger of carbon containing binder materials by content in the same of benzo[a]pyrene and by emission of benzo[a]pyrene during carbonization of binder materials up to 850 °С. As binder materials binders with lower content of benzo[a]pyrene CARBORES-Т and CARBORES-Р, as well as industrial coal tar pitches, from which the same had been obtained were investigated in the laboratory conditions. By a number of arguments presented in the paper it is confirmed, that at present widely applied prediction estimate of carcinogenic danger of binder materials according to content in the same of benzo[a]pyrene is not objective mainly for not regarding the formation and emission of synthetic benzo[a]pyrene during heating of binders. It is shown that, estimation procedure based on quantitative determination of emission of benzo[a]pyrene during carbonization of investigated carbon containing materials is more impartial and universal. With the help of the above comparative carcinogenic danger of products of coal tar and petroleum origin as well as binder materials not containing of benzo[a]pyrene is determined.
