The paper analyzes the current state of welding of the high-strength direct-hardening steels. One of the main problems is associated with obtaining the welded joints equal in strength to the base metal without the use of preliminary and (or) concomitant heating and subsequent heat treatment. To solve this problem, it is proposed to use the pulse-arc welding with a flux-cored wire of a new composition with a self-hardening effect. The use of such wire increases the mechanical characteristics of the welded joints, improves the structure in the heat-affected zone of the welded joint, and increases the deposition rate during the welding by 10-30%.
