This article describes the situation with portrait journalism in Russia and reveals the concept of portrait reportage as a new synthetic genre. The features of creating a text in the portrait genre are examined in terms of comparison of the intellectual author and the artistic author. Reportages by Marina Ahmedova published section “Figure” of the magazine “Russian reporter” in 2017 have been used as an empirical basis.
