The article identifies the problems associated with the professionalization of students at engineering master's programs of the Higher School of Engineering (HSE) of the Ural Federal University (UrFU). Professionalization in the context of this study is understood by the authors of the article as mastering a set of specific competencies that allow you to find a job at the enterprise, or to run your own business. Focusing on models of professionalization from the variety of aspects of professionalization for tasks of this study were made with the aim of implementation in the programs of the engineering graduate of the Higher Engineering School at the Ural Federal University. Programs at UrFU are designed and implemented on the basis of the methodology of learning outcomes in close cooperation with partner enterprises, they have a network form of implementation and didactic models built on the principles of student-centered learning. Internships at enterprises are of particular importance in the program, it is the process of working on specific problems and tasks of enterprises that can form certain competencies of students necessary for professional activity. Participation of representatives from enterprises-employers at all stages of the program (program development, student internships, coursework and final qualification works) allows to ensure the required level of compliance of students' training with the requirements of the labor market. This approach allows to affect the quality of education very much. The approaches to the study are described and the results of approbation obtained on the example of students and graduates of the program "System engineering" participating in larger-scale studies on the problems of professionalization of graduates of engineering programs are presented. Traditionally master degree courses at UrFU include a wide discussion of the problems of the labor market and education, holding a variety of forum events, active participation in international initiatives, programs and projects. A large number of discussions are held, in which the main problem situations are identified, stakeholders are identified and a pool of experts is formed. Topics of discussion include a wide range of issues from the context of engineering activities to the identification of technically oriented children and their professional orientation.
