It has been established that the currently existing method of preparing siderite ore at the Bakalsky mine administration to blast-furnace smelting does not allow to obtain a concentrate that would meet the requirements of modern metallurgy. The most promising method is reductive roasting to produce a metallized product with a higher iron content. It is shown that for the implementation of this method it is necessary to use a three-zone shaft furnace, which has three zones: an oxidizing roasting zone, a reduction zone and a cooling zone of the recovered product. Experimental studies on reductive roasting of siderite ore in laboratory installations have been carried out. The principal possibility of obtaining a reduced product from siderite ore with an iron content of 60 - 65% is shown. After magnetic enrichment, a concentrate with an iron content of 65-75% was obtained. It was established that as a result of burning and reduction in hydrogen atmosphere, the degree of reduction of the calcined product is 97%. The possibility of using a gas of air conversion of natural gas to obtain a product suitable for domain processing with a degree of recovery of about 60% is shown. The results obtained were used in the development of the technology for the regenerative roasting of siderite ore in a three-zone shaft furnace.
