The article discusses the problems caused by the elimination of industrial production in small towns of Russia, which are associated with the deterioration of the social urban environment and the outflow of human capital. The methods of solving these problems through the redevelopment of former industrial buildings and territories were identified. It is possible to transform abandoned urban spaces with the help of tactical urbanism, which fits into the budget constraints of projects in small towns.
